Chronic pain affects millions worldwide, often leading to a diminished quality of life and reliance on medication. However, a groundbreaking approach from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) is paving the way for a drug-free solution through a game-based neurofeedback intervention called PainWaive. This innovative treatment utilizes an EEG headset and a specially designed game app to help users regulate their brain activity associated with chronic nerve pain. During initial trials, participants experienced significant reductions in pain severity, showcasing the potential of this technology.
